Honoring MLK and Celebrating Black History Month

February is a time to honor the profound legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and reflect on the significance of Black History Month. This month reminds us to celebrate the richness, resilience, and excellence of Black communities while continuing the work toward equity and justice.

Reflecting on MLK’s Legacy

Dr. King’s vision of justice, equality, and nonviolence continues to guide us today. On February 1st, we joined the MLK Day Parade and Festival, marching from the Capitol to Huston-Tillotson University. It was a powerful moment of unity, reminding us of the strength found in community and shared purpose.

The Meaning of Black History Month

Black History Month is more than a reflection on the past. It’s a celebration of the contributions Black individuals have made to society and a call to action to address systemic inequalities. It’s a time to amplify Black voices, honor achievements, and inspire future generations to continue breaking barriers.
